Does VAKT Home use cameras or record audio?
No. There are no cameras, and nothing is ever recorded. VAKT Home notices movement and stillness from the WiFi signal between its own small nodes. Each node has a microphone so your loved one can call for help by voice. Speech is recognized on the node itself, audio is never recorded, stored or sent, and only a voice call alert reaches the app.
Does my parent have to wear or charge anything?
No. There's nothing to wear, carry, remember or charge. Once the nodes are plugged in, your loved one just carries on with their day.
What happens if there's a fall?
VAKT Home is built to notice the sudden movement and stillness that follow a fall and send an alert to the app within seconds, so you can call or check in straight away.
Is VAKT Home a medical device?
No. VAKT Home is a wellness and activity monitor. It doesn't diagnose or treat anything and it isn't a replacement for emergency services. In an emergency, call 911.
What do I need at home to use it?
A power outlet in each room you'd like covered and a home internet connection for the hub. No reliable internet? Add the cellular connection and the hub connects on its own. The nodes talk to the hub on their own private network, so they don't join your home WiFi.
How do I set it up?
Scan the QR code in the box. It walks you through downloading the app, signing in and choosing your plan. Then plug in the hub, plug a node into each room and name the rooms in the app.
What's included in my plan?
Every plan includes live status in the app, alerts, breathing and heart rate readings, a weekly activity report and the whole family at no extra cost. Plans are $49.99 a month or $499 a year. Monthly insights, with longer-term trends and a written summary, are an optional $9.99 a month.
